the numbers tell you where it happened.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Numbers<\/strong><br \/>\n1: 1st bend (2: 2nd bend etc)<br \/>\n1\/2: Between the 1st and 2nd bends<br \/>\n1-2: From the 1st bend all the way to the 2nd bend<\/p>\n<p>So, \u2018Chll1,Ld2\/3-4\u2019 means \u2018Challenged for the lead at the 1st bend; took the lead between the 2nd and 3rd bends; kept the lead until the 4th bend\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A<\/strong><br \/>\nALd: Always led (led from start to finish)<br \/>\nAwk: Awkward (turned its head towards another dog rather than concentrating on the race)<\/p>\n<p><strong>B<\/strong><br \/>\nBd: Badly (BdBmp: badly bumped)<br \/>\nBlk: Baulked (ran into another dog)<br \/>\nBmp: Bumped by another dog<\/p>\n<p><strong>C<\/strong><br \/>\nChll: Challenged for the lead<br \/>\nClrRn: Clear run (wasn&#8217;t bumped or crowded) but still didn&#8217;t win<br \/>\nCk: Checked (hesitated)<br \/>\nCkd Sough: Hesitated halfway down the back straight<br \/>\nCmAgn: Came again (put in another big effort)<br \/>\nCmOffLm: Came off lame (was found to be injured after the race)<br \/>\nCrd: Crowded by other dogs<br \/>\nCrmp: Had an attack of cramp<\/p>\n<p><strong>D<\/strong><br \/>\ndht: Dead heat<br \/>\nDInt: Deliberately interfered with another dog during the race<br \/>\nDisq: Disqualified (usually after acting aggressively towards another dog)<br \/>\nDist: Finished a long distance behind the rest of the dogs<br \/>\ndnf: Did not finish<br \/>\nDrwClr: Drew clear of the rest of the field<\/p>\n<p><strong>E<\/strong><br \/>\nEased: Slowed down (usually approaching a bend)<br \/>\nEP: Showed early pace on the run up<br \/>\nEvAw: Evenly away (came out of the traps level with the other dogs)<br \/>\nEvCh: Had every chance (wasn&#8217;t bumped or crowded) but still didn&#8217;t win<\/p>\n<p><strong>F<\/strong><br \/>\nFcd-Ck: Forced to check to avoid running into another dog<br \/>\nFcdWd: Forced to run wide around the bend<br \/>\nFdd: Faded (ran out of puff)<br \/>\nFnWll: Finished well (ran strongly up the home straight)<\/p>\n<p><strong>G<\/strong><br \/>\nGdMiddle: Ran well up the back straight (the middle section of the race)<\/p>\n<p><strong>H<\/strong><br \/>\nHldOn: Held on (kept the lead despite coming under pressure from another dog)<\/p>\n<p><strong>I<\/strong><br \/>\nImp: Impeded by another dog<\/p>\n<p><strong>K<\/strong><br \/>\nKO: Knocked over<\/p>\n<p><strong>L<\/strong><br \/>\nLckd: Lacked (LckdEP: Lacked early pace)<br \/>\nLd: Led<br \/>\nLftClr: Left clear (after other dogs collided)<br \/>\nLm: Lame (i.e. was injured during the race)<\/p>\n<p><strong>M<\/strong><br \/>\nMid: Ran in the middle of the track<br \/>\nMsdBk: Missed break (came out of the traps late)<br \/>\nMsdTrbl: Missed trouble (avoided a collision affecting other dogs)<br \/>\nMvdOff: Moved off (left a gap for other dogs to pass on the inside)<\/p>\n<p><strong>N<\/strong><br \/>\nNrLn: Near the finishing line<br \/>\nNvrShwd: Never showed (did not look competitive at any stage)<\/p>\n<p><strong>O<\/strong><br \/>\nOutP: Outpaced (simply not quick enough to be competitive)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Q<\/strong><br \/>\nQAw: Quickly away (a fast start)<\/p>\n<p><strong>R<\/strong><br \/>\nRls: Ran close to the inside rail<br \/>\nRnIn: Run-in (the closing stages of the race)<br \/>\nRnOff: Ran off the track at the bend<br \/>\nRnOn: Ran on (kept going strongly)<br \/>\nRnUp: Run-up (the run from the traps to the first bend)<\/p>\n<p><strong>S<\/strong><br \/>\nSlAw: Slowly away (started slowly)<br \/>\nSnLd: Soon led (took the lead early in the race)<br \/>\nStkRl: Struck the inside rail when going round the bend<br \/>\nStmb: Stumbled<br \/>\nStppd: Stopped<br \/>\nStrFn: Strong finish (came with a late run)<br \/>\nStt: Start (StmbStt: Stumbled start \u2013 almost fell over coming out of the traps)<br \/>\nStyd: Stayed (kept running strongly all the way to the line)<\/p>\n<p><strong>T<\/strong><br \/>\nThrOut: Throughout the race (ChllThrOut: Challenged for the lead all the way round)<br \/>\nTndInTrps: Turned in the traps (so was facing the wrong way when the race started)<\/p>\n<p><strong>U<\/strong><br \/>\nUpWthTrps: Rose up on hind legs as the traps opened<\/p>\n<p><strong>V<\/strong><br \/>\nV: Very (VQAw: Very quickly away)<\/p>\n<p><strong>W<\/strong><br \/>\nW: Ran wide on the right-hand side of the track<br \/>\nWtd: Slowed down when leading and waited for other dogs to catch-up<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The abbreviations tell you what happened;
